8 Good reasons to be glad you are single on Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is nearly upon us again. More soppy love poems, more cute teddy bears, heart shaped cushions and untold numbers of sickly loved up couples staring deeply into one another’s eyes, while their expensive dinner at the fancy restaurant gets cold. Well, forget them; here are eight good reasons to be pleased that you are single this Valentine’s Day:
1. You don’t have that unbearable pressure
If you are single on Valentine’s Day, don’t worry, be happy instead. Be happy that you don’t have to wrack your brains again for a gift with even a vague element of originality! Just spend that money on something that you want instead.
2. You don’t have to face any of that awkwardness
Being single on Valentine’s Day saves you from all that awkwardness that many couples face. Some of us just weren’t made for that professing of undying love on a certain day of the year that Hallmark has dictated. This year, you can just relax and be yourself.
3. You don’t have to miss your favourite TV show
If you are single on Valentine’s Day, then you don’t have to miss your favorite TV show. Let’s be honest, there will probably be many couples looking at each other on Valentine’s Day, secretly running through in their mind all the good shows that are on TV that night. You don’t have to miss a thing. Want to stay in? Well, stay in!
4. You can wear whatever you want
If you are single on Valentine’s Day, then there is no need to dress to impress for you. You can just wear whatever you want; an old pair of jeans, jogging pants or whatever…the only person you have to please this year is you, so make the most of it!
5. You can write what you really feel on Facebook
What do you feel today? Write what you like without needing all the sugary sweet, glowing testaments to a man, just because everybody else on Facebook does.
6. Have a laugh at all the awkward couples
Enjoy the day at their expense and keep an eye at for the guy desperately seeking the last bunch of flowers at the florist, the girl buying the, so called ‘humorous’ boxer shorts, or the couple looking decidedly self-conscious at the restaurant and revel in your own freedom from it all.
7. At least you don’t have to worry about being dumped on Valentine’s Day!
You might be on your own, but if you are single on Valentine’s Day means that you can’t be let down or dumped either. Sit back and relax, the night can’t really go wrong for you, can it?
8. Be free, be happy, be single!
Valentine’s Day is the best day of the year to celebrate being single! Just take it as the perfect opportunity to reflect on all those things that you really don’t miss about not being in a relationship and treat yourself to whatever you want. No pressure, no trying to please someone else, it can just all be about you.
If you are single on Valentine’s Day, be happy, it’s your day!
